Process prickly pears into alcoholic delicacies or into juices and syrups - delicious

Prickly pears (also called "prickly pears") are excellent for liqueurs, syrups, and juices. I'll share a few creative recipes with you, each as a liqueur or juice. All quantities are for approximately 0.5–1 liter of final product.

1. Prickly Pear Liqueur (clear and sweet)
Ingredients
500 g prickly pears
250 ml vodka or grain alcohol
150 g sugar
Juice of half a lemon
preparation
Peel the prickly pears and cut them into pieces.
Place in a clean glass jar with sugar and lemon juice and let stand for 30 minutes.
Add vodka, seal, and let it steep in a cool, dark place for 4–6 weeks.
Strain, bottle and serve cold.
2. Prickly pear syrup (for cocktails, water, or tea)
Ingredients
500 g prickly pears
250 g sugar
150 ml water
Juice of half a lemon
preparation
Peel the prickly pears and dice them roughly.
Heat sugar, water and lemon juice in a saucepan until the sugar has dissolved.
Add prickly pears and simmer for 10–15 minutes over medium heat.
Strain and bottle. → Keeps in the refrigerator for about 3 weeks.
3. Prickly pear juice (natural)
Ingredients
1 kg prickly pears
1 tbsp lemon juice
Sugar to taste
preparation
Peel the prickly pears and cut them into pieces.
Puree and press through a fine sieve or cloth.
Season with lemon juice and sugar. Enjoy the juice fresh or freeze it in ice cube trays.
4. Prickly Pear Rum Liqueur (exotic)
Ingredients
500 g prickly pears
250 ml brown rum
150 g cane sugar
1 vanilla pod
preparation
Peel the prickly pears and cut them into small pieces.
Pour into a glass with cane sugar and the split vanilla pod.
Add rum, close, let it steep for 4 weeks, shaking occasionally.
Strain and pour into pretty bottles.
And what else can you make with the prepared delicacies? Here are a few more ideas for using the previously prepared liqueurs.
1. Prickly pear mulled wine (Christmas)
Ingredients
250 ml prickly pear liqueur
1 liter of red wine
2 cinnamon sticks
3 cloves
1 star anise
2–3 tablespoons sugar or honey
preparation
Heat red wine together with spices and sugar in a saucepan (do not boil).
Add the prickly pear liqueur shortly before serving.
Enjoy hot in cups or glasses.
2. Prickly Pear Liqueur Cocktail “Exotic Night”
Ingredients
50 ml prickly pear liqueur
25 ml lemon juice
100 ml tonic water or soda
ice cubes
Mint or lime slice for garnish
preparation
Pour liqueur and lemon juice into a glass with ice.
Top up with tonic water and stir briefly.
Garnish with mint or lime. → Refreshing aperitif or long drink.
3. Prickly Pear Tiramisu (with Liqueur)
Ingredients
250 g mascarpone
100 g cream
50 g sugar
150 ml prickly pear liqueur
ladyfingers
Cocoa powder for dusting
Optional: fresh prickly pears for decoration
preparation
Beat mascarpone, cream and sugar until creamy.
Briefly dip ladyfingers in prickly pear liqueur and place in a dish.
Spread half of the cream on top, then add another layer of soaked biscuits and cream on top.
Chill for 3–4 hours. Dust with cocoa powder before serving and garnish with fresh prickly pears, if desired.
